am running a mugello 230 set up in my gp,had a problem with a slipping clutch so have put a new 5 plate but still get the same problem.clutch dosent slip or drag at standing but give it more than half throttle in 4th at about 55mph and the engine revs out,like the clutch slips!?loosing the will now....

Look at your sliding dog, front sprocket and spring. If the spring or the interface between sliding dog and sprocket are worn out, you can get the same slipping clutch sensation under acceleration and load.

thanks for that,hadnt even thought of it.how do i know if the set up is wrong then?!

I took mine apart and I instantly suspected the sliding dog was warn. I bought a new one and at the same time invested in a new spring too as I knew the history of the engine I'd taken them from (read: generally shagged out ).

When I got the new sliding dog, I could see that the old one was well warn down.

I take it you have checked that everything in the clutch separates properly and moves without interference etc etc

Worth checking to see if the kickstart surround is catching the ears of the clutch plates. Most engines have to have a bit ground away to stop this happening.

What clutch springs are you using?

the clutch springs are GT ones and new with this clutch,i checked all the clearances in the clutch and around the kickstart,no issues.gonna get it stripped again today and go from there,thanks for all the help,will let you know how i get on!

well that didnt work!! so now get the same high speed slipping effect even after changing clutches,springs,plates,cush drive and spring.what am i missing?get slight drag when standing still but surely if i adjust it to get rid of that it will just slip more!?all this after i changed the gearbox,could that be an issue!?

Could be cable frayed and sticking........happened on my Rocho 5 plate clutch, found the problem after frying 2 lots of plates

All sorted,turns out that the springs with the 5-plate clutch were just standard ones,hence the slipping!uprated springs fitted and all sorted,pulls like it should!merry xmas people!
