Anyone else had problems with the EVO exhaust being too low. Myself and a friend of mine both bought one and within the first week he had damaged his going over a sleeping policeman. Last week I went up a kerb no more than 30-40mm and it hit the kerb and sheared the two exhaust studs. Performance wise it's the best exhaust I've had but it's too low. I spoke to the guy who sells them and all I got from him was "nobody else has had a problem".

They aren't the best on customer service.

Thats enough to knock that exhaust of my list then.

Yep, caught mine on a speed bump at work and even getting the scoot onto the ramp. However with a stiffer rear shock, (my old one was way past its sell-by-date) I havent caught it once. I just try and remember to be extra cautious at speed bumps. It can't be any less than the JL3 Curly I used to use though, was always catching that.

Have only done a few hundred miles, so how long it will last I don't know, but the fit was easy, and there is plenty of metal to brace possible weak points. I like it. Performance is great and for the cost I thought it worth a punt (especially as mine was second hand after being used for some testing).

Thanks for the replies, I'll try a new stiffer rear shock and see if that helps, I suppose it's about time I put a new one on, I've had the same escort shock on for 10 years.

If you have the room above the manifold and the shock length is adjustable (I don't know if they are) then it may help. My S2 315mm shock was really old and replacing it with a new 315mm worked. I did offer up a S3 shock that I had but being so much shorter made it much worse. I really only needed a few more millimeters to make the difference. Good luck.

Got rid of mine as first time out two up hit a speed bump only going slow and lost an exhaust nut, changed the rear shock but it still sat too low, performance wise very good but was having to virtually stop to go over speed bumps.

Most pipes using stub type fittings have the same issues with regards to ground clearance, I've recently been using/testing an EVO pipe and it has about the same clearance as my Taffspeed pipe. You just need to ensure your rear shock is up to the job and be wary on speed humps/ curbs etc. Good pipe for price,

does the pipe need any mods to fit a ser2 as the can looks quite big? may hit the side panel??

I found that it did hit my panel on my GP slightly, it also was hit by my kick start. The exhaust itself does give good performance but I also found it was constantly rattling loose at the barrel and the engine fixing as well as catching on speed bumps so gave up in the end.

Just bought a BGM rear shock to see if this will help but there are no instructions with it. How do you change the settings on it. All they sent was a small tool with it.

Just a thought, but what barrel are the problem ones being run on? I've not fitted mine yet, but looking at the stubs the ts1 style is about an inch shorter than the standard one due to the adaptation to an oval flange, might this be having an effect?

Had mine on a standard GP 200.

My Evo was fine when riding solo. Having just returned from Austria 2 up with luggage the Evo does indeed ground out on speed bumps, ferry ramps and other such inconveniences. Otherwise not a bad exhaust. Had to make some readjustments to stop it hitting the panel. Engine is a TS1.
