Dodgy chains

Am I right in thinking there was some dodgy chains on the market ?

Me an a mate have recently bought 2 Iwis chains,

one was an 80 link which would not go on standard (used) Li sprockets and the other was 82 link for standard GP sprockets. Both bought from different place's (not ebay).

Both chains if compared with old used chains do look cheap and don't have any makers stamping on the links.

Is there an alternative chain out there.

I have heard rumours of fake IWIS chains, but I don't know how to tell a real from a fake.

Harry Barlow uses a different make of chain, and rates them higher than IWIS (but I can't remember the name)

The colour of the chain is different, Black or Grey. One is for industrial machinery, the other for bike/scooter chains.

I can't remember which way around is which, but someone in the know will be along shortly to confirm ;)

They are, however there are some that use a black coloured half link (81-83 pitch), these are very iffy as mine snapped on route from Kelso at around 70mph. it was the half link that was to pardon the pun the weak link. Also happened to a mate of mine (Mossy) :
