Cylinder upgrade

Need help with a tuning kit, how do you tune your scooter, which kit should I choose, and all general tuning and modifcations questions are for in here.

Cylinder upgrade

Postby Jono » Mon Jul 06, 2015 9:38 am

Looking for a little extra pulling power up hills , not really requiring extra speed from my GP 150 (Indian) running AF 42mm and 22mm jetex.
As a low cost option is it worth looking at a 175cc Iron Cylinder. If considered a viable option any views regards a Supplier of a good value bit of kit.
Views and advice appreciated.

Id say its definitly worth it, a well set up 175 is a great low cost boost for a scooter.

Remember you may have to look at gearing though that could be as simple as a front sprocket change.

I don't know about specific dealers but I would be looking for a genuine sil barrel, preferrably a genuine sil head (harder to come by than the barrels) and the thin 2 ring piston, usually Escort if memory serves unless you can get hold of the asso version, but im led to believe they are rare these days.

why don't you just get a 175 conversion piston and get your barrel rebored but if you clean up your ports do that first

Hi missing Lynx
Had thought about that some time ago and was quoted a silly price, appeared cheaper to buy a kit.

Maybe I should shop around outside of my local area for a better price - any idea what you would believe to be reasonable for such a rebore and piston?

Thanks all for info , greatly appreciated.
I assume as well as piston and rebore to 175cc a new 175 cylinder head will be required or can you also get 150 head re-worked?

How about a Gori 175 kit from Rimini at £190 including barrel, piston and head. Seems good value?

Agreed, £50 more for the 200 Sport and £100 more for the 200 Race. :-)

if the price compares well to a standard 175 then i guess that would be a good way to go for the op then.
