rear sprocket

Need help with a tuning kit, how do you tune your scooter, which kit should I choose, and all general tuning and modifcations questions are for in here.

I have a lot of up and down movement on my rear sprocket is this normal? I have never noticed on other builds Ive done before. I do have in and out movement on Christmas tree ,all gears mesh well even with movement on cluster is this the movement im getting on my sprocket? All opinions welcomed cheers tony

Probably not.

Once the clutch nut is done up there should not be any up and down movement in the inner bell.

The sprocket may have a little but not excessive or it will wear the chain out. You need to check the shimming and sprocket alignment. Also check that it doesn't rock, indicating bearing or bush wear.

I didn't have the bible (sticky's book) to hand earlier.

The up and down should ideally be less than 0.1mm.

You can check this with the sprocket and clutch inner disassembled by laying a flat edge over the back with it lying face down on the table. The clutch inner should protrude from the sprocket and you can measure the difference. MB apparently do thin shims to take up any extra.

Thanks Ross I've just checked everything and I think I'll need to replace end plate bearing (glad I took end plate of as just found a tooth belonging to my 3rd gear)will call on mb for a compendium of shims,cheers Tony
