If im right in thinking that higher octane fuel helps prevent pre ignition why are many folk still running normal unleaded on tuned kits/motors. I realise there are things on the market to alter the ignition timing which helps but is it not advisable to also use the higher octane fuel when available aswell ??

Not necessarily. Higher octane fuel such as Super Unleaded won't make a great deal of difference in a standard'ish engine. You'd be just as well using a regular grade and keeping it fresh.

Ok but would you recommend using it with an imola kitted motor (which i have) and also a tuned TS1 which i am about to start building shortly ?

I would use any old shite in a standard motor but I always use super unleaded in my engines and have done for many years.

When I Bought a bike a while back it came with a gallon of methanol, the previous owner recons a shot in the tank counteracts the effects of ethanol.

When I used to run Denmark loads out of Immingham, there was a girl on the bar in the pub on the docks who used to drink Sea-men-foam and she wasn't bald, so I'd say yes!
