Sounds similar to Ron's demonstrator (30mm VHSH and Fran Race) so his setting are worth getting hold of.

I run mine with 30 PHBH, Fran Supertourer and Agusto 6000 unit. My ignition range is something like 24 to 14 degrees, which might help as a starting point for your Varitronic (subject to varitronic ignition curve).

No doubt that Ron would have records of his old settings/jetting though.

I'm running a 30mm PHBH, Franspeed Race and MTech.....i did have a Variotronic but changed it for a BGM stator and the the MTech. I've just changed from 4:6 gearing (using a Franspeed Tourer) to 4:8 for the race.

Keep on hoping.......

Just got back from Newark (80 mile) did 60+ (GPS) on the A1 all the way back without a sniffle, it accelerates from 60 quite easily but mid 70's seem to be it's limit (with my set-up).

I can't fault my Avanti but it's not a kit for a "Street Racer" (yet!!). An Avanti may give the RB a bloody nose but it would have to be an 100 mile "sprint" :o

Frustrating !!! A pain to hold it at the recommended MPH but a pleasure to know there was lots more to come. I think i was one of the first to get one up and running so did the running in by the book....went out on a night after work for 20, 30, 40 mile at a time and managed to get a few 100 mile stints in on a weekend. The power was there but you couldn't use it !!!

I've helped put another 2 Avantis together and the running-in bit went out of the window with them. They both did a sensible 100 mile or so then started opening them up......no harm done (as off yet). The Avanti kit seems very forgiving and the reliability is a pleasant surprise (for a Lambretta).

I tried running at a static 17 degree and it bogged down badly. It was so bad i was struggling getting a tick over. i went to Whitby with the set up and stalled going round a corner when i missed a gear, took an age to start.

Fitted the M-Tech at 24 degrees and it's cleared up the bottom end massively. No problems starting (hot or cold) although slightly boggy mid-range but i can live with that.

I think the Race exhaust doesn't like the low rev's and is the "problem". But it's a problem you can live with when you're on the motorways :) Not nice to ride around town but is there such a set up that gives town riding and motorway power ?

I'm (hopefully) going to be getting an avanti kit in the next couple of weeks. Whats the best Exhaust to use with them?
I'm not sure what is the best set up to use. I want an all rounder that can tootle along on a ride out without much fuss and when required hit the motorway 2 up and a load of lugguage.
