Running a ts1 with a square head . Using a skyline cht gauge with the sensor on the plug . Reads 200 degrees . Done. Plug chops and all seems ok ! What's your thoughts on running that hot ..?

That's hot. Converts to 392F.
I'm pretty sure most people with sensors on the plug are seeing lower temps than that.
Eden is a good source for this info.

Funnily enough that's the chart I've been referring to for my bike Wack, but my CHT sensor is tapped straight into the head, not on the plug or under it. It's not affected by the cooling air.
I've been seeing some pretty crazy temps, but I've now sussed the happy areas and using it to set the jetting.
As an experiment I ordered a 2nd sensor and used Scotty's method of fixing to the top of the spark plug. I saw much, much lower temps when using this method. It really does depend on where the sensor is fitted.

Skyline egt reads around 650 . Sensor is 100mm from barrel , running with a nk rally pipe and fueling is showing spot on on dyno paperwork. Would just be nice to get it running a bit cooler

Can I ask what tempreture you were seeing?. I've the CHT tapped into the head and its showing over double to when it was on the plug.. It's early days for me still running in but it's abit scary when you used to seeing around 170f at 55mph and I'm now seeing 360f at 45 mph (I was using the choke when it went over 350)

Hi Warrick,
Have a search thru Edens posts ,
He linked a couple of informative articles on how To use gauges. if you have tapped into the head thou should get a higher reading.
What's important is to plug chop at the high temp and be happy all is ok then that number is your "happy" number.
Read up on the effects of advance and retard ignitions as these will have a big effect on head temps
For many igronance is bliss. Having a temp gauge and not understanding what it's telling you, is possibly worse than not having one at all.

I've sussed out that around 370F (188C) when cruising is a happy temperature with my set up. I saw the temp go up to 440F (227C) on the motorway, at that point I flicked the choke on and it cooled straight down with no effect on running. That's how I sussed I had a lean spot. I'm currently trying different needles to sort this out.
Once I've got the jetting sorted I'll post the type of temps I'm seeing for different riding (town/motorway)

Temp gauges really show how a power jet would be areal plus.

Thanks chaps I have doing plenty of chops tomorrow at higher speeds.. It's good to know that 350 is not to extreme
I think the biggest danger with tempreture gauges is spending to much time looking at them rather than the road, my eyes are not getting better and the temp on a sip speed is very small
I will be very interested in the temps on motorway/town.. I was getting around 280-290f though London at the weekend
