Anyone running similar spec on there avanti ! I am after gearing advice ? Lth reed / 28mm dellorto / bgm broadhurst clubman 110_58 crank / static dj road motoplat / I have choice of pacemaker or Italian li gears and have not yet purchased a clutch so final drive can be whatever is best ? It is going in a touring use series 1 , by racing days are over = I would idealy like a 60mph cruising speed. With a 70ish top speed, usually solo but occasional two up, oh yeah I am around 12 and a half stone . any advice appreciated ! Graham :D

can't comment on the gearboxes you're intending to use but I've found the Avanti very forgiving and matched with a "grunty" exhaust pulls well low down.

The Clubman should allow you to pull 4.6 quite comfortably.....maybe even 4.4 ?

I used a Ron Moss clubman (no reed) with Indian GP gearing and it found 4.6 to be fine. It also pulled a Franspeed Tourer fine but had to go to 4.8 with the Franspeed race

Always worth giving Ron Moss a ring....very helpful and a phone call doesn't seem to be an inconvenience to him.

I've got a 225 Mugello with small Atomic reed block, TM27 mikuni and ADS3 exhaust. Li150 gearbox and 4.7 final drive. It might go lower but it's so good as it is than it's not worth the effort of changing it. I recall over gearing an Imola kitted engine so it's better to err on the side of too short rather than too tall.

i run a avanti tt3 standard size crank,30mm phbh varietronics 5 plate clutch and a franspeed super tourer,on 4.81 gearing, its fine on the straight but as soon theres anysort of incline the revs drop and its out of the powerband in no time,so then your up and down the box like a fiddlers elbow,am thinking of trying 4.9 gearing just to see! but it could that its in a ser2 and am knocking on 15 stone :?

I have exactly the same set up on mine but without the varitonic and it's in a Jet 200....you also have 2 stone on me but mine is fine on 4.8 and providing it's already in the poweband when I hit a hill it will usually keep going (55-60 mph)
