gear slector spring

Hi can anyway tell me if the Layshaft gear selector spring to buy are all the same length? i recently changed mine & it was longer in length, to the standard one i replaced with, could it be i was sold a kickstart spring instead?

Both are OK to use.... The kickstart spring is a common upgrade to make the gear change more positive and firm. sometimes the standard spring can be a little loose and you can experience jumping out of gear...

The gear spring is 0.8mm gauge , kickstart 0.9mm . The old gear spring may be shorter due to being compressed.
