If I understand correctly, Sx handle bars sits lower than a gp handle bars on the same frame.
where do LI bars figure in the order.

Have a look at some photos (Sticky's book?). When you look at the GP headset, the handlebars clearly sit an inch higher on the casting than the SX handlebars. This was to allow for the fork-stem of the GP being an inch shorter than all preceding models, thus maintaining the handlebars at the same height as the SX/TV and presumably, Li.

I conclude that Li headset has similar spec to the SX, rather than the GP.

Discuss.

I assume the same,
But what gives me doubt os that racers prefer sx to gp bars, as you say for the inch drop.
But with the current cost of sx type headsets i dont see any using the cheap li bars.

Bertone’s design of the GP meant that to maintain the same bar height; the GP headset was 25 mm longer to suit the 25 mm shorter legshields.

However, despite all other Series III headsets being nominally the same amount shorter than GP, the chrome ring headsets are lower still when utilised without the chrome ring.

I can only recall one racer that used Li headsets on his special, & that was years ago. Perhaps he was not fashion conscious, judging by his choice of jumpers that he still wears......

I think it just goes to show that despite their rarity/value, the TV etc headset is selected on aesthetics as much as practicality

There's just as many, if not more, racers using GP headsets as LIS/SX/TV ones.

Hi Digger,

Gp Headset with Gp Frame will give same height as standard SX, so no problem there, Sx headset on GP frame will lower the bars by an inch giving a perceived advantage.
That's what I'm Trying to Achieve with out the £300 price tag.

Got it.

Remades are far less than £300 - Corrado sells them at £170.

Probably based on cost as you can get 4 or 5 Indian GP headsets for the cost of an SX or Li headset.

As you know in racing ...... headsets are not for life. :o
