GT 186 kit

Postby bazza3004 » Sat Jul 12, 2014 2:11 pm

Hi I have a GT 186 kit still on original 64mm bore (done approx 1500 miles) , includes piston reeds manifold for 30 mil carb and the porcupine head. Im thinking of selling the kit as need funds for other bits but not sure what to ask for it , I only took the kit off to go down the Imola route . The GT ran perfectly whilst on the bike and has never had any seizures etc. Any help on putting a price on this kit would be appreciated . I know 'its only worth what someone is willing to pay' etc etc but I don't want to give it away so as I say any help in pricing this used kit would be welcome.

I could be interested in this at £300 given I found one on ebay that went £275 so you're in the ball park.

hi bazza
I,m also saving the pennies towards smallblock kit, problem is.cant decide which.was not sure btween rt195,gt like yours or rb20.i am very tempted by the rb,for the fun of flyin past the p2,s  but reallisticly I,m told it may not be as much fun town riding .plus they are very thirsty.never given the imola any thought, until reading your post.just wondered what you thought of your gt,and are you just swapping to a faster kit.feedback I,ve had is the gt unmodified will bob along in the low 60,s allday but not much more whreas not a clue what to expect from the imola.appreciate your thoughts on this.

By way of clarification, my barrel is standard and untouched and, on the journey described, it was revving past 7000 (ie a genuine 70 to 75mph) whilst not at wide open throttle and with the tailpipe having been torn from the exhaust

Hi i dont have a bad word to say about the gt kit as its a crackin piece of work. Never had a problem with mine i just wanted a change . I had my gt tidied up a little (nowt major) and also matched transfers to casing. I ran it with a 30mil delly , franspeed race and Li 150 gearing and had it up to 75mpg on gps. Nice kit for plodding about or zippin on abit . I run the imola on same set up but now with a 60 stroke crank and have no trouble tootling round town on it. It has enough torque low to mid range to happily pull my 17 stone bulk about at lower speeds without needing to wing it into powerband all the time . I did alittle work on exhaust port and cleaned an flowed the inlet/reed housing and again opened casing some more to match transfers as there larger than the gt. So far its run fine and had it up to 78 (gps) which felt like 108 lol.
Ps should have mentioned i upped front cog from 15t to 16t when running the gt kit.
Cheers.baz
