OK, so got this from Scooter Center and took a week to get here so just looking it over before painting it and noticed that the weld in the middle of the bend is offset, now im wondering whether to send it back or not or if it will have any impact on the flow of the exhaust gases and hence the performance?

Anyone else got one ? any thoughts? Or am I being picky?

Do a dry fit.If it fits and everything lines up I would use it,if not send it back and tell them it doesn't fit.

Yep starting on the dry fit tonight to see, just probably me being picky given its a £220 exhaust id expect better quality control is all.

I don’t think you’re being ‘picky’ as I wouldn’t be happy with that joint, either.

If you want a good example of ‘picky’ you could do worse than remind yourself of the things said about other manufacturers’ exhausts in this article:

Having read that I'd send it back straight away.Right at the bottom........."and there it is ....................hundreds of hours of developement and 30 years of experience making clubmans" To weld pipes as badly as that.

Aye, I can see where ye are coming from, my issues with the weld as opposed to scooter center themselves or MB as Im sure neither are actually making them in the back of the workshop Im assuming the works parted out and specced to a certain tolerence, but never having had one of these it worries me i guess.

Yep, but Ive had a reply from mb about their opinion via facebook message and they seem to think it shoudl be fine.

Mines not like that Donnie, I'd get it swapped. The are a nice exhaust though (performance wise)

problem is it means sending back to scooter center in germany, so thats likely a week that way, another bloody week back so 2 more weeks

Well, I have to say, dry fitting that went beautifully! And this is going on one of the mismachined mugellos!!

Talking of welding & exhausts , I fired my Gp up for the first time after a complete rebuild , & then checked the top end just to be sure there was no visible leeks , & noticed a dribble of oil on the stub manifold , so of with the exhaust to check copper gaskit , but was suprised to find 3 holes on the tube one around two MM between welds , these Must have been filled with zinc when galvanised & the zinc blown out under pressure & heat when the scoot was fired up, so out with welder & a new solid copper gaskit from MB,

was this on a mb clubman?

No Donnie a stainless supertour , but it's one problem to look out for I checked the stub out before fitting it and couldn't see any holes as the zinc was masking them !

will double check once up and running, likely sunday or monday as im on 12 hour shifts again til then

£200 for a clubman Donnie, I thought you'd want a full engine for that.
