gt crank

Need a bit of help please , im trying to fit the inner part of the bearing to my gt crank , doing it the way i always do , ie crank in the freezer
and the inner race in boiling water , and it just keeps getting stuck after the taper , is there a special bearing for this crankor am i doing something wrong ,
ive also tryed to use a piece of tube and gently knocking it on ,
any ideas ? Steve

That's the way I'd do it as well... perhaps the tolerance the of the crank is slightly tighter than other cranks... you could try & get the inner race a bit warmer with a hot air gun or leave it in the oven for a while & maybe leave the crank in the freezer overnight. If none of this helps contact Rich Taylor direct as he's pretty helpfull about his products.

Hi I did mine a couple of weeks back without any grief - crank against my ample belly and tapped the warmed collar on with an old 80s sundance bar end. Are you being over cautious?

All sorted , a liitle more heat and it popped on , thanks everyone
