Piston C type cirlip

Just got two replacements and they are slightly smaller so 15mm x 1mm rather than 1.2mm, do you think this is a problem

Personally, I'd never fit the wrong type of circlip, unless it was a 'get me home from a rally' bodge. I've first-hand experience of the wrong circlip being supplied with a new piston, not picking up on the dealer's error and then having it pop out of the piston... abroad :!:

Avoid wrong clips if possible.

I think you must mean nominal Ø16 mm as that is the standard wrist/gudgeon pin diameter.

However, I'd prefer the correct wire diameter simply because there will be more spring rate to keep it in place & discourage rotation/wear.

If you're struggling to find the correct ones, I may have some.

thanks for the offer, I'll try one more place tomorrow, the 1mm was the wire thickness and it could be the ones I took out are 16mm but have relaxed to 15mm when I removed them if you know what I mean.
