I am fitting a brand new one tomorrow. It is the Ancilotti Style with a two piece U Bend. At what stage of the fitting is the best time to get the retaining springs fitted. Any other tips fine ? Thanks.

Put the springs on last.

Someone suggested putting some silicon on the joint first ?

I put a smear of exhaust paste on the end of the exhaust stub.Fit the exhaust box and tighten it up first, including the tailpipe, then fit the downpipe and springs, then the clamp.

Fitted it today, went on quite nicely all things considered. The rear clip does not close up enough, but it goes on in the end. The bracket under the engine to too far out to put a bolt into the engine. I am letting the exhaust paste dry overnight.
Looks like it might fail the stand. Dinners ready so will find out tomorrow. Apart from that, looks well made.

Started second kick and runs much better than the old 48 mm Clubman. I will cut a slot in the bracket under the engine so that I can secure it. The exhaust tail pipe touches the oil level plug which is the old hexagonal bolt. I will change that for the slim allen key style to eliminate the problem. Other than the fettling mentioned, I am more than happy with this product. Not too noisy either.

I fitted one a few months ago, and it took a minimum of fettling - just had to shave a leg a bit and reorganise the tail pipe clamp. One thing I have done since is re-paste and replace the box to U-Bend clamp with a hefty 45mm car exhaust type clamp as after doing a 200+ mile weekend run the joint there started to blow a bit. All good so far, I like the build of the downpipes - not likely to go rusty.

Took mine off again, fitted it in reverse order. Spot on now. A nice exhaust, good quality, good finish, bad fitter ( me )

Mine went on without any fettling which is quite something when considering the variations of measurements on all the Lambrettas out there.

As Andie, I too replaced my camp with a Car exhaust clamp.

Thanks Bilko, makes sense, could not get that allen key to tighten up that much for an exhuast. Will pick up a clamp, thanks. :D
