Anyone tell me where i can get some uprated springs from
Also a spare set of clutch plates from.

Brilliant I have an SSC clutch, even have a spare set of corks and uprated springs but one of the steels is warped so it slips like buggery. Very light action though and a lot smoother than the AF Road. I've tried without success to contact Morris that designed the SSC clutch, just wanted to know which Jap bike they came from.

Please update this thread if anyone has success in sourcing parts or info as I'd quite like to know too.

I'm sure I had some spare plates, I'll see if I've got any other spares. I know I've got a few full clutches.

I am not 100% sure, but I think the parts are Honda TZR 250 parts.

Not sure about the plates but a TZR 250 was a Yamaha not Honda

Now, in the back of my (inquisitive!) mind, I thought the SSC was based on a Honda 80. This is the one I thought it may be:

this is a Honda cbr 250 its look the same will deeper.

The friction plates came from either ebay here or scooterotica, can't remember which now The springs were sourced on line from a site selling uprated clutch parts for similar Honda clutches. I also bought a spare steel from them but although it had the correct number of teeth, it was too big

I did notice that a lambretta spring is an almost exact fit inside the SSC spring so could be a solution?

I just need one steel and my clutch would be good to go

The one that I have came with a GP centre/pressure plate. Do we know if an LI/SX type centre is available?

It comes with a choice of centres adam gp & Li. Im using the Li option.
Normal lammy springs aint interchangable with this unit, But they do twist inside. But its impossible to pull the clutch lever in when you try it.
So the oly option is heavier springs to suit the ssc unit. And were still no further up the road with any help.
So i might go down the af cassette road clutch route now. The ssc would be a great unit on a standard engine, but not for anything better.

If you can't find any yourself in a spring manufacturer catalogue (http://www.entexstocksprings.co.uk/https: https://www.springmasters.com/?gclid=CI ... GwodlPIAXQ to name but two), then measure the spring dimensions (outside diameter, number of coils, free length & wire gauge) & Post on here.

I've got various compression springs from all sorts & I'll trawl through if I have a starting point. By their much better design, motorcycle clutches are more accommodating of altered springs than generic Lambretta based units. Even I(!) have managed to convert an alloy six plater to work in a race engine for far less money than the cost of even an SSC unit!

You set out to get an answer to a very valid question & I think you could be proved right so I'll help if ever I can....

I must admit I took a bit of a punt when I ordered the springs and I'm not 100% certain they will fit but I will pull the SSC clutch apart tonight and check they fit. Then I will see if I can figure a way of measuring the tension.....suggestions welcomed

You can make a good guesstimate of the spring rate by looking in a manufacturer's catalogue & comparing your own spring's wire gauge & outside diameter.

If you browse, it will start to make sense.....
