Hi. My set up is a standard SX200 gearbox with a version 1 mugello 225 , 42 mm Ancillotti, 30mm carb. At the moment I have quick acceleration, but no top end, plenty of revs though, having to ride with 3/4 throttle position in 4th. 4th gear seems much too low. What would be the better gearing option if I was to tweak the gearing. Thanks

People will ask What Front and rear Sprockets are you running ? so a Ratio can be worked out to suit rour set up

Just to add, all gears seem too low, engine seems like it is being thrashed. Petrol consumption is noticeably high.

I don't think so. It pulls well even with pillion . Speedo is a bit wavy, but top end is roughly 65 .

Go GP200 (Indian or Italian) with st'd 18/47 sprockets or even 19/46 with an expansion exhaust.

Thanks . Would changing just my sprockets, but keeping my sx200 box be a workable option ?

ive just put your details in the gearbox calculator and your final drive ratio is 4.81 to 1 in top gear, if your engine pulls that easy with no slip of the clutch then i would try 1 tooth bigger on the front and see if it will pull ok, you might need a longer chain, depends how stretched the one you have on now is.

If I'm reading the OP correctly then this would make it worst. Std SX200 gives 4.82 final drive, which OP thinks is too low, std GP200 gives 5.21. Sticking a 16 tooth front sprocket will give 4.52 which sounds too tall. Not easy to make a small adjustment with an SX200 box, next tallest jump to 4.7 = 16 x 48, then 4.6 = 16 x 47.

Totally different gearbox though and this is based on what I ran on my version 1 Mugello 225
