I have a new TS1 225 barrel and need a piston, was looking at the Avanti TS1 piston, with oval reed valve cut out, are these a direct replacement piston, so just fit correct grade to barrel and its ok, as what difference does the oval cut out make make, or best to use AF piston? Thanks

I didn't realize that Ron did a reed valve piston or I'd have bought one last year when I reed valved my Avanti TT3. What I did was use a TS1 piston as a pattern to mark and cut windows into the Avanti piston skirt as well as the cut away at the bottom. The windows lined up well with the Avanti inlet so I would image the same would be true in reverse. Also, a single oval window is likely to flow better than 2 windows as per the TS1 I would think.

I've used both in my TS1's with no problems 8-)
some people say it weakens the piston??????????

So what grade Avanti piston did you use against grade on TS1 barrel?

Ron old me a Makita grade C reed valve piston a few years ago, I wasn't bothered about the grade at the time as it was going to go in a home brewed Indian Ally 225 reed valve set up. I decided not to go that route in the end so bought a C grade TS1 barrel and it fitted perfectly so I would guess the grades are to some sort of set tolerances.
