End can

Postby Stevepshipley » Fri May 12, 2017 10:45 am

Just noticed (it may have been happening for ages) the internal part in the endcan on my TSR evo spins a bit when I rev it. The part behind the big circlip at the back. Should I be worrying about this?

Does suggest there might not be much wadding left in the can...

Has it got noisier recently?

Err, yes possibly. Should I take it apart and see? Only done about 1000 miles I reckon, why would it lose wadding.

the wadding is usually fibreglass wool in it gradually gets burnt up and expelled out of the exhaust, ive got wire wool in my exhausts to stop this happening, bought a large bag of it from b+q :D

I have just replaced the wadding on my Taff Mk 4 (similar can) and mine spins but probably because the circlip was tack welded on and I had to dremmel it to remove it. Done quite a few miles since without detriment, in fact it probably uses the wadding more evenly.

You need to sort it, I had this and left it for a while, eventually the movement cut through the tail pipe behind the circlip and the end came off with baffles etc flying out behind me on route to Llangollen last year (on A19 flyover.
Repack it and tack it the plate to the circlip.

I've just returned form C2C and mine on the Taff copy need doing as it spinning and rattling like a good en!!

Stripped my end can tonight and the wrap was brittle and in pieces. Repacked it, alll good, just didn't have time to put a little little weld on the cap/circlip
