Had an interesting chat with Ben at Rayspeed yesterday regarding my proposed winter build project, I explained that I was thinking about building a powerful touring spec motor and in perticular had been looking at the GT240 kit but what could he offer/recommend. He explained that they have an RB 250 but in a spec that delivers its power lower down and much more smoothly than the standard RB, something he referred to as a 2016 spec kit and combined with a 62 stroke crank would give me what I was after, I have to say he really knows his stuff and was wondering if anyone on here runs this kit and what are your thoughts/opinions of it?
Cheers.

That's interesting, I am thinking of going down that route and that set up sounds ideal. Last time I was in they were in process of getting the exhausts updated and improved which were going to be a better quality.

Ben has done a few for me like that, latest one was my misano with a 64mm 125 rod, steel lined 72mm rb barrel, before that on a std casing 64mm 118 rod 72mm rb 250 barrel both still running

I put the 2016 spec RB250 onto a 62 GT crank with the GT case (260cc)...pulls well. But I put the ADs 6 RB pipe on...a bit of an animal

Hi Peter, this may come across as a rather daft question but what is your fuel consumption like on that? The reason I ask is this will be my touring build and consumption is a big deciding factor.

Hi mate no never went for it in the end, someone I ride with sometimes has one, drinks like an alcoholic (the engine not him) put me off.
In the end i went for an RT 225 with full MB touring tune and reed, longer stroke crank etc, i think on balance I’ve made the right choice.
