SR185 kit

Postby jonno » Sun Aug 20, 2017 7:49 pm

Just stripping down an engine thats been sitting for several years, fitted with an SR 185 kit.Measured the ring gap and its well over 0.6mm even though its not done 1000 miles yet. Anyone know what the recommended gap is for these kits and where I can get more rings,in case theyve been filed too much? Sr out of stock

Some of these kits had a rather soft cast-iron core. The bore can wear excessively, so it might not be worn rings, but worn bore. Check the bore to piston clearance.

Bore clearance is 0.1 ish.The ring gap is about a 1 mm. Doing a deglaze as well how do you get the cross hatching ?All I seem to get are loops.Thats slow speed but quick up and down the barrel.
