Slow speed judder

Postby Jim » Sun Feb 09, 2020 4:30 pm

I've got a judder in the steering when slowing down or pulling away. It's a new engine which I've fitted, just checked internals all soid. The only other thing I've done is tighten up the leg shields, any ideas folks?

Check tyres. I get this when front tyre wears. You can feel and see a difference in height from one tread to the next. Might not be your problem but something to check.

Folks I'm pretty sure it's not the front end, however my clutch sprocket has some play, can pull it towards me about 6 mm. Anyone reckon it could be this?

Six millimetres!

Regardless of whether that is the issue, you should get that fixed before you even start the bike up! I wouldn't even let it out of my garage with only a tenth of that :!:

Seriously, you risk breaking your neck, because even with the renowned Lambretta riders' habit of the 'hovering left hand' pulling the clutch will have no effect if that transmission locks up.
