Internal diameter of fuel pipe

for a fast flow tap, what is the best, most effective internal diameter of a fuel pipe? I think standard is 6mm but I have read people using 8mm. Is there a consensus on this? Google doesn't know.

It's just rubber hosing with cloth type braiding quite flexible really
