Mag oil seal

Whipped of my magflange to cure a gasket leak and noticed the grease in the mag bearing had gone.Does this happen over time,or a sign of the inner oil seal having a leak?

Seems to have been bit of residue about but not packed like when you install bearing.Only done 2500 miles.
