Just back from a disappointing ride out, I could hear a strange noise coming from the engine, so I pulled over and noticed the kick start was sagging, after some running repairs of the very temporary kind I managed to kick it and tie the kick start up with a throttle cable to get me home, bike rides fine but the kick start just sags to the floor, any ideas

The kick start spring has probably broken.
They do eventually, even if OEM.
It will be that or either of the two internal spring engagement holes....

Quite common for springs to rub on the top of the clutch and wear through til they weaken and break. Look for filings in your oil when you drop it.
