Timesert is better if you can get them the right size etc

Lambretta cylinder studs are M8 ‘course’ which is Metric Ø8 mm with a thread pitch of 1.25 mm
Although Helicoil (wire thread inserts) are used extensively to repair stripped threads, the main use is for their installation during the manufacturing process by many manufacturers. Think Rolls-Royce, Boeing etc.
Fitted correctly, they are a superb product that increase the strength of the resultant thread, were it to be left as, say, aluminium alloy.
Any thread repair should be carried out with due thought to the remaining material left around the insert & the likelihood that there may be need for subsequent repairs.
Personally, I have the resources for Helicoiling & Keensert repairs.
However, for reasons explained, I would use Helicoils in the first instance
