Simplified loom

Postby Dibs/SFSC » Sun Apr 09, 2017 9:31 pm

Just fitted the simplified loom for AC 12v and appear to have the purple spare from ignition switch with no spare wire to match it to. Without it plugged in horn brake light and headlight work OK, no rear light, festoon or speedo, decided to try connecting with the browns (feed from regulator, ignition and horn) and all lights work but no brake light and when pressed all lights dim. Before I start chasing my butt all over, anyone out there had the same issue?

Purple from ignition switch goes into bulb holder/junction box opposite grey.

Thanks for the reply HXpaul,
That seems the perfect solution but there is no grey in the simplified loom only green, brown and black to j/box in headset so no matching connection for the purple.
Bit embarrasing really as I`ve been faffing with scooters for 35+years but first time with a simplified loom and leccy is not my cup of tea.

If their is no grey, then it goes opposite brown. That is your AC power supply from the regulator.

That is where I`ve
spliced it into the Brown supply.
Thanks for the responses I will have a trial and error session later.

In a simplified loom there is only one feed- so connecting the purple to the brown is what I did to get all mine to work.
Have you done any other work on the electrics, specifically the rear light unit as mixing up the brake light/ back light feeds make it look like the brake light works when all the others are off, as soon as the lights are switched on the back light illuminates (using the 21 w brake light filament ) and overpowers the light being given out by the brake light which is now connected to the 5w filament.
Simplest way of checking this is to take the lens off and watch what's happening to the filaments in its 3 states
Lights off brake pressed (1 filament illuminates)
Light on ( the other filament Illuminates)
Lights on brake pressed. ( both filaments illuminated)

Thanks Meds will give this a try, it`s a BGM LED light but will be the same principle, I just matched the connections with corresponding colour on the loom but will switch them and see what happens

I would be interested in the results as the LED's shouldn't draw enough to dim the lights?
But as you say the illumination principle should be the same.
Hope it works for you.

Thanks Meds,
Outcome was it was the LED light unit that seemed to be the issue, dug out an old reflector from 30+ yrs ago and all works fine, rather odd but that is what
was throwing me out obviously as it was brand new, anyway out with the new and in with the old as the say (sort of)
Thanks for your responses

Dibs the wiring on the LED BGM type is different to normal

Colour coded to fit as this

Wiring loom black wire - to yellow wire on LED reflector

Wiring loom pink or red wire ( from brake light switch ), to red on LED reflector
Black wire on LED reflector is the Earth and must be bolted to BARE metal on framei think the black on them is earth wiuth yellow and red as normal feeds

Cheers Toddy, yes, read the connection info but maybe just one of those wierd Lambretta things that occur randomly (that is why we love them so much!)
