Yes, I see no reason why not as many of the GP changes actually started on later SX models. Examples are cranks that use piston shims, side casings modified for the stronger kickstart shaft, similar later Ducati flywheels (boss for SX crank but the body is much the same as GP), then the later body changes to clip on panels, bolt-in buffers, silver running gear, etc.
Unless there is specific date information for component change (which may/may not be accurate) then I'd have thought late end plate was quite likely.
