Temperature readings can be a very grey area, depending upon your sensor position.
The temps Wack has posted are pretty accurate temperature areas for a sensor screwed directly into the head, as mine is. That's the chart I used to set mine up.
As an experiment I tried some back to back comparisons by swapping the cable from a sensor on the plug back to the sensor screwed into the head. It made a huge difference, obviously, as the sensor on the plug will receive some cooling from the air.
See the threads below for some good info. I never did get the engine set up after those posts as a piston ring decided to snap whilst setting the jetting up, so trying again soon with another fine set up by Mr Scott. A DT175 piston this time rather than a converted Asso. Cheers Scotty........nearly finished my uni work mate, not forgotten about your garage lighting upgrade

Hi do you have a link to the screwed in sensor.
I've been looking at the m6 ones.

That's just the one that came with the SIP speedo, you can buy them on their own from Beedspeed

You will need to ensure the resistance span is the same as the SIP sensor otherwise you will get dodgy readings.
Also, bear in mind the sensor you are looking at is wider than the SIP one.
Other than that I really can't offer any more advice. It will be a case of trial and error.

Will the sensor on an SIP speedo fit the thread in the blanking plug on a GT porcupine head?
