Temperature readings can be a very grey area, depending upon your sensor position.
The temps Wack has posted are pretty accurate temperature areas for a sensor screwed directly into the head, as mine is. That's the chart I used to set mine up.
As an experiment I tried some back to back comparisons by swapping the cable from a sensor on the plug back to the sensor screwed into the head. It made a huge difference, obviously, as the sensor on the plug will receive some cooling from the air.
See the threads below for some good info. I never did get the engine set up after those posts as a piston ring decided to snap whilst setting the jetting up, so trying again soon with another fine set up by Mr Scott. A DT175 piston this time rather than a converted Asso.
