Thinking of buying one of these. Has anyone fitted one to a cylinder raised by 3mm; with packers? If so how well does the chaincase side bracket line up ? Much fetlin required?
If anyone has one of these on an Avanti, whats the experience?

Not tried a KRP Curly but the JL3 Curly doesn't fit the Avanti as it clashes with the larger cylinder/fins. This was well beyond needing just a bit of fin trimming to make it fit too. I've trimmed non-curly JLs to fit Avantis but the Curly, being tucked in closer to hide it, was a non-starter. I imagine the JL KRP 3 will be the same.

Did you have to trim the fins on the non curly JL / Franspeed?

Only putting a slot along the so that the main bracket bolts cleared the fins but the main body cleared the head and cylinder, whereas the Curly was too close and hit the head and cylinder.
NB: These JLs were regular JLs (JL3 and Fran Supertourer), rather than the Avanti special JLs, which are available to order.

Cheers Adam, I'm about to start building an Avanti kitted motor and have what I believe are 'regular' Franspeed road and race pipes available as well as the jl3 (readspeed badged) curly currently on my GP.
I guess I'll fettle for one of the straight pipes.

Thanks for the replies chaps. In the meantime I spoke to the laddies at KRP and they said they'll custom make one around an Avanti for me. So I said yes, thought it has to be worth a punt anyway. I'll report back when it arrives. In the meantime I'll get this Avanti run in a bit.

UPDATE - The exhaust arrived. It looks very cool in clear lacquer. Most importantly it fits. Its snug between the end can and chain case, on the very edge, not sure I could get a fag paper through that gap but for the rest it seems spot on. I'll post some pics of it fitted when I get a sec. Have to go and earn a crust now.

One of the pre install pics - you can just about see the angle the pipe comes out at to fit around the avanti

Just trying to get a few more ponies out of her Nigel. I don't want Mrs Raveydavey complaining about me going too slowly when she's following me across Europe in her van.
Plus the BGM clubman has just about fallen to bits.
