A question was asked on another thread about lr tanks,where it was like the choke was on all the time after a 12 ltr tank was fitted. I had the same problem the choke wa soff but was running appallingly rich. I can only think the extra weight of the fuel was pushing past the float jet. Any thoughts on this ? as Im considering trying it again as Ive fitted a TS1 lol

Well it didnt do it with original tank before or after..............is it magic ?

though seriously I’ve a long range tank and ain’t never had a problem with choking. Gotta be something else playing voodoo

I can only guess it’s a new carb?
Have you since the problem has occurred checked no cables are touching the tank, and that they have free movement?
Have you taken the carb off and checked nothing else has railed and causing issues.
We all know that these things are sent to try us by the Italian gods for messing with their shopping trolleys!

Head of fuel makes no difference; don't listen to misinformation.
Most likely that your choke cable is obstructed and holding choke open. If you cannot get it to operate smoothly, buy a throttle cable and cut it to best length so it loops around easily. Solder a nipple on the choke lever end and file it down to suit.

Yep. Tank Volume has changed but he head of pressure remains the same.

The effective length of a choke cable (the difference between the inner and outer cables) changes the more bent it is on its route from lever to plunger. This can cause the plunger to be lifted when the lever is in the off position. You might be able to compensate for this by altering the adjuster where the choke cable attaches to the carb.
On Dell'orto carbs, you can look down the drilling for the choke and see the plunger. You need a good light, but you can see the plunger operate as you turn the lever. You should be able to see if the plunger is fully down when the lever is off.
