Is it possble to run my scooter without the shim at the back of the cluster.I bought an Indian Li 150 gearbox from beedspeed a while ago but when fitted with the endplate torqued down the cluster shim gets trapped between the cluster and the case and the gearbox wont turn. When the shim is removed and the geabox built back up it turns easily by hand.

Paul,
Don't forget that when you tighten-up the clutch-centre nut, it will pull the clutster away from the back of the casing.
This may mean that the action of tightening the clutch-centre nut will either negate the need for the shim beneath the cluster, or create enough space for the shim.
Have you got as far as fitting the clutch and tightening the clutch-centre nut?

The clutch basket is fitted and torqued down, but the the cluster is still trapped and the gearbox wont turn with the shim fitted.

But it turns ok with the shim removed and the the clutch basket tightened? Is there any noise of "cluster-on-casing" when you turn the clutch cluster (before fitting the plates)?
If no noise, then it should be ok.

When the cluster is fitted without the shim and the clutch basket attached and tightened to the right torque, the whole gearbox turns without any effort or noise.
