Technical help for Series one, two and three Lambrettas. Models include the Li, Li Special, TV, SX, GP, Serveta and API/SIL models

Hi all,
Thinking of converting my early S3 to a 12V electronic system. The bike has come out of storage for 20+ years and I currently have no spark. Instead of replacing suspect components from the old system I am thinking it might be more efficient and more reliable to convert to a new 12V system.
Any thoughts on the best brand/supplier for an adequate system that is compatible with my crank?
Doesnt look like too complex a task... any pitfalls to watch out for?
Appreciate any help here
Peter

To be honest, unless you plan to upgrade your engine in a major way, you're probably better off repairing the old points system, far more reliable and less hassle than many electronic kits on the market. Paul

Best thing you will e er upgrade IMHO.
Great spark, better starting and running. Very very easy job to do. Wiring is easy too.

Thanks Paul
However I cannot find a replacement 6v regulator/terminal connection box which I fear needs replacement (no continuity across the transformer) even if I wanted to keep the original components.

I have been lucky with complete kits from India for £85 and I have been unlucky. No matter who sells it, it nearly all comes from the same source.
Total Quality parts but at a higher price from Anthony Tambs trading on Facebook as Scootronics.

Chris
Anthony Tambs kit is more than twice the Beedspeed Elemec 2010 spec kit. Is it money well spent?

The conversion is easy -
If you get lambretta electrics and are able to piss around - no it’s not worth the extra.
If you want to stick one in and it work- have technical back up if it doesn’t quite work then The extra money is worth it- speak to him and he will advise on what you need.
