Daft Question Time

Postby ToBoldlyGo » Thu Dec 26, 2019 10:41 pm

Are the dampers fitted on the S2 TV175 the same length as those used on the S3? I thought they would have been personally. But I've seen them advertised seperately and I wondered why?

Series 1 TV and Series 2 TV dampers are noticeably skinner than Series 3 TV, SX and GP/dl dampers. While the shape of the fork links (and corresponding ride height) also differ, the most obvious difference in the dampers is the girth.

I’m no expert but they are the same length, an adult will be along when they get up to clarify!

:D
Cheers Shane.

Scootopia sell the skinny dampers for the S3. Probably a little too skinny maybe. Curiously the S2 dampers are fatter with a bit more room around the tube.

I’ve seen that too the scootopia Tv1&2 dampers look fatter than the S3 ones - the dampers on my TV/2 are wider than a set of slim escorts

Does anyone have the definitive answer?

Cheers for posting that. Looks to me like the ones Scootopia sell for the S3 are a dead ringer for the GP. Pretty much as I suspected though, they are the same length as the S2. A little tid bit of information that might come in useful.

Welcome! Italian GP/dl dampers are the same as Series 3, it's the TV Series 1 and 2, that are different from the rest of Italian production. I found it interesting that Eibar Jet ones were the same size as S3/GP/dl but slightly shorter, but I'll be the first to admit I know nothing about Spanish Lambrettas.
