Not many really, I'd take it a bit easy for a hundred miles but not too easy, dont be afraid to rev it but dont labour it. Tighten the head down again after 100 miles and you should be good, a few plug chops would be a good idea too

Out of interest, if it doesn't require a re-plate/bore, why are you changing the piston and not just the rings ?

Make sure you solve the root cause to the detonation issue before you charge ahead with a piston replacement.

jetting or an air leak would be other possibilities. Worth doing a leak-down test when you put it back together......followed by plug chops.

Altitude above sea level is not something that most of us need to consider really except for the few that live at 600-1000ft above sea level. Up there has upto 1% less oxygen available for combustion.
An engine perfectly tuned for this altitude will run weaker when thrashed on a run out to the coast, potentially leading to piston melts, seizures, recovery truck, embarrassment and depression :o .
Always best to set them up on the rich side if you live up where the air is rarefied.

Interesting point where I live is about 700ft above sea level and with my RT could never get it off the rich side.

Not even when the barometric pressure was high?

I doubt if 700ft above sea level makes much difference. You will get more effect with cold weather on a sunny winter's day when the air is denser.

I'd try and prove this, but we don't have too many mountains in Suffolk (but we do have a ski-slope)

Maybe, I could never get it off the rich side even with what I thought seems quite lean jetting Av264/X7 and mains as low as 110 on a PHBH 30
