Spent last hour trying to get rubber round legshield toolbox. No wonder innocenti never fitted them. Calm down and coffee time. Big dollop of metal flake not helping

I gave up in the end. Mine fitted fine rubberless.

(Oops, I was responding to the idea of a traditional under-seat tool box, not legshield tool box. Sorry, wrong glasses)

I went rubberless a couple of times and paid ever since A calm down, bit of music on and it's on. Cut rubber tadge short but that's at bottom

I normally put masking tape on to hold it place then as you fit to legshield carefully pull it off.

I've recently used a metal reinforced rubber on one - so easy! Hid a few sins aswell!

Strategic use of superglue helps keep it in place whilst fitting

I know a friend of a friend that did this mick, he was very proud of his tool box that was welded to his leg shields and how well it all looked painted, that was until he tried to put the scooter back together and realised he had warped the legshields, this would have been when the toolbox was welded on with the legshields off the scooter frame. When he went to fit the horncast in place as the final touch the gaps where the horncast rubbers went must have been about 2 cm each side, i was there in his garage just at the time to witness it,he went off in a huff and i have never ever heard or seen anything of him again this was about 10 years ago and he probably put all his money into this scoot rebuild.
I bet he was not the first to make this mistake, if the legshields were fitted to the scooter when the toolbox was welded on he would probably have done it ok

If some relief "V" notches are cut in the rubber using a really sharp craft knife, where it bends around all the External tight radii corners, and then hold it all in place with some strips of frog tape. This makes the fitting a doddle really.
