I have seen a shortened panel hook for sale a while ago for series 2 for you to cut panel hook and replace with a removable one to make swapping rear wheel easier. Anyone have contact details please. Thanks.

I could be wrong, but thought the one piece S3 panel spring can effectively swing down like the GP's. Isn't there a top clip that can be rotated (if not too tight) to allow that to happen? Both panels need to be off or unclipped to allow the spring to rotate.

Unfortunately not, the top clip is welded in place so prevents the spring swinging down

Oh! That shows that it is some time since I assembled my SX!

Sorry about that, but I will check my panel spring retention method. The fact that any modification to what you have would be hidden by the registration plate is food for thought though.

On GP's I always connect the two springs together centrally with rubber hose to sync them & act as a buffer to the frame. As mentioned previously, it means both panels need removing to access the wheel more easily.

JB Fabrication panel hooks are an excellent replacement if you are having problems removing the wheel.

In case anyone else was also looking to purchase, if you have a S1 or S2 these really are a godsend, it is cheaper to buy direct from Jon Betts (JB Fabrication) on FaceBook, I paid £15 for mine whereas eBay is £18.50. Basically you are then not paying for eBay and PayPal fees on top.

The newer s3 frames didn't have the hook at the top centre, you could just cut it off then the spring thing swings down.
