I could be wrong, but thought the one piece S3 panel spring can effectively swing down like the GP's. Isn't there a top clip that can be rotated (if not too tight) to allow that to happen? Both panels need to be off or unclipped to allow the spring to rotate.

Unfortunately not, the top clip is welded in place so prevents the spring swinging down
