Flywheels and stators

Postby nickw » Sun Feb 07, 2021 3:56 pm

For a long time I have been using a varitronic system but I recently picked up a series 2 with the standard electronic system. My how things have changed. The flywheel is branded Elemec. I had never heard of them but Scooter Centre sell them but the description is not that good 'The workmanship could be of higher quality'. I can't work out what the stator plate is. It looks fairly well made and had red gunk at every wiring point as a lot of stators appear to have nowadays. Ideally I want to make the electronics appear as original but reliable. Are the BGM classic ignition coils any good and do they work? I want the stator to be reliable so had thought of getting one of Anthony Tambs and using that with the cdi ignition coil from BGM. I don't want the expense of a BGM flywheel though and SIL flywheels almost impossible to find, what choice of flywheel would people choose. AF?
cheers for any help

Hi Nick

I have 3 new original weight (3KG) short finned SIL Flywheels in the Club Shop 'Get You Home Spares' stock (that came from Scooter Restorations) and two lightened (2KG) short finned lightened Flywheels that came from AF/Andy Francis.

If these are any interest to you, or any other members?

To clarify - the new Flywheels I have in stock are for the larger GP crank taper.

Cheers Toot. Scooter restorations did make some SIL flywheels with Li taper but are out of stock with most flywheels.
