Postby lam1962brettagg » Tue Mar 08, 2022 8:42 pm

Hi all
just had an rt195 kit fitted an now do around 77-85mph
I need new tyres but most are j rated ie 62mph
Ideally I'm looking for whitewalls with trad tyre pattern.
not racing slicks.
I have been looking at continentals?
any suggestions please?
cheers

Hi

The BGM classic tyre is rated at 93 mph should be more than adequate.

I hope that helps.

I saw a favourable FB review of the BGM tyres last week, which is quite pleasing as I have just bought a set (but haven’t fitted them yet).

I’ll be honest, I have bought them for their classic appearance rather than their speed rating.

BGM Classics are not 93mph, they are 62mph rated.

Not saying you're fat but the speed rating is dependent on the load rating so a big lad or two's up would reduce the speed rating

Completely wrong. BGM Classics are P-rated which is 150km / 93mph.

I have just put some BGM Classics on my GP200, I bought them off a guy who'd had them on a Vespa for about 50 miles, he said he didn't like them as they wandered about a bit.

I'm hoping it was the fact he was an ex motorcycle TT racer and not used to the charms of a P200e handing characteristics.. He was going for a more modern tread pattern.

Not from what I understand and was the reason I went for the SIP Classics which have the higher rating.

The SIP Classics are 59P rated, which is exactly the same as the BGM Classics. Both are rated to 150km (93mph). SIP has 59P embossed into the sidewall, as does the BGM. The BGM additionally has Vmax = 150km/h embossed in the sidewall. The SIP are made in Vietnam and the BGM in Germany.

I've been running the BGM Classics on my GP200 since March 2020 and love the classic ACS styling combined with the high speed and weight rating, not to mention they're manufactured in a country with decent labor laws, environmental protections and human rights standards.

Ok, apologies, then I must have chosen the SIP's for tubeless, as BGM's are only for tubed.

Your sarcasm is noted ;) .
Yes you are correct about the speed rating!
Ok then, tell me what huge amount of tuning you have had done to get your RT195 to do 77-85 mph please.

Your tuning isn't a secret, you can put it on here for all to see.
