Hi,
I've just bought this LI 125 special for restoration and I'd like a little advice on the best way to strip the paint off? I know that there are many different ways out there but what's peoples preferred method and what gets the best results without damaging the bodywork? It's been over 20 years since I've owned a Lambretta, having moved onto Sports bikes but i'm looking forward to ownership again, although it seems to be slightly more expensive now than I remember. All advice gratefully received

by far,the best one for the metal is Soda blasting.Paint stripper is crap,and very messy.Grit ,I think,is to coarse,and can eat int the metal.Soda is the way to go.

Frame can take sandblasting.
Panels, legshields, headset etc i normally have chemically stripped.

I always have mine blasted as it leaves a good key for paint. The medium mustn't be too coarse or it will cause the bodywork to distort due to heat (friction). Worth having done by someone specialising in scooters and not your local wrought iron gate refurbisher.

Can anyone recommend somewhere I can get my scooter soda blasted? I live in North Wales but I'm prepared to travel within reason,

Hello Lambo
I can recommend these guys, my mate put me onto them, I was very sceptical about going there, but what a great job really smooth finish and a very reasonable price also. Maybe a bit of a trek for you but I don't think you would be dissapointed with the results. Have a look at them on the net, don't be put off by the shot blasting word ! This guy knows what he is doing, which makes all the difference.

Much nearer to you - North West Enamellers, Buckley. Used them loads of times over the years. One of the owners has Lambrettas and knows how to sympathetically blast the various component parts of a Lambretta. They powder coat and paint too.

Thank for the suggestions guys. Storkfoot, I don't know why I didn't think of them myself, I used them to spray the wheels on my NC30 a few years ago and they still look like new now I'll give them a call today, cheers

It doesn't does it ?, just for treating rust and won't remove paint.
