Fork springs and rods etc

Postby Peterp » Mon May 25, 2026 10:33 am

Need some advice please, started to rebuild my 175 forks, I’ve noticed that the cup/ball in the links looks different by way of one seems deeper. Also, two new rods have slightly different shapes/sizes to them.
After messing with the old rods which showed obvious wear and again a differing shape I have a 2ish mm difference in height of rods when placed in links.
I’ve secured the links side by side and used a level to make sure my datum is equal for both.
Am I worrying unnecessarily, never noticed any handling problems prior to strip down, the only thing that was pointed out to me was when holding front brake and pushing scoot forwards the wheel/hub tilted slightly one way.
I’m trying to keep as much of the old parts as I can.
