RT 225 - 230, low revving and reliable, Avanti pipe original no need for ST, Vape ignition, PHBH30 carb and aim for 55-60 mph all the way.


Thats said I rode an RB250 to Austria and probably will do same to Italy.

I have a couple of RT225 in other bikes I use for rallies regularly.

Probably too late for the party now but are you aware that Richard Taylor (GT) makes a small block 200 GT kit. Longer barrel which requires a 62 x 110 crank (I've tried one in a couple of small block cases and had no clearance issues) but uses the same 64mm piston (cheap enough to carry a spare and long term I think there are 7 over sizes available). If you were buying all from scratch it wouldn't cost any more than the 186 kit. There's currently one on my "To do" list. 62mm crank supposedly gives it more torque so 5.0 final drive ok. My "to do" list has SIP exhaust and Mikuni TM24 carb, probably filtered as long range tank a useful addition on any touring scooter (always combined with a leg shield tool box). A 186 on steroids?

Many years back i went 2 up with my wife over the alps to Italy on a standard GP200. No problem.
Cheep on fuel, easy to ride, perfect!
