rb20 touring

Postby shamrockexpress » Sat Jul 04, 2026 5:56 pm

Anyone out there using an RB20 for touring/rallies etc.....with five speed box, if so what pipe/exhaust ???
i know from the endurance racing the RB20 is very reliable so i was thinking of building RB 20 kit, 58x 116 crank, 30mm flat slide dellorto, static bgm ignition, AF 6 plate road clutch, AF five speed box and AF RB Tornado exhaust........any opinions for swapping out the fore mentioned bits would be helpful, for the record i have all the parts mentioned.
Also what is the best small block casing for this, i do have an indian sil GP case ,,,,,,,,,,is there better???
Regards,

Also interested in this - I've a RB20 engine already built with a Chiselspeed 'fast road' exhaust on it which is a bit hard work.

Considering trying a different exhaust in an attempt to bring the power lower down the rev range.

Cheers, Ben.

I,m sure Mr. Scotty will be along soon hes probably busy racing.......
i would say a more restrictive exhaust would be beneficial.

I remember dave stocks having this type of setup & I believe the kit was slightly de-tuned in order for it to be a tourer, still went like sh*t of a stick too 8-)

done a couple for mates
used the 60x116 crank tho as to tame the port timings down
no base packer & using a thick head gasket... they great tourers
Both used the 30 VHSH & Fran Supertourer pipe m8

The ex box st is available with rb stub. I think torbay lambretta have them.
