Postby garynonnah » Fri Jan 16, 2015 8:37 pm

Got a problem....fitting shoes to front hub, they are sitting in position ok, cam operates them.....
but when i tried to fit to drum, they are much to tight, cannot even get them started in the drum.
GP200 Lammy....the hub is totally over hauled new everything.

Unfortunately, what you have experienced is pretty common. I've experienced this several times with Newfren shoes. Essentially they are too thick and bind on the drum, if you can get the drum on.

An hour or so with a file, with lots of fitting/ taking off and checking for high spots. Alternatively, take them back as not fit for purpose.

I've bought a couple of sets of Indian Makino shoes for future use, on recommendation. They don't look quite as thick as the Newfren ones although I haven't measured them. Good luck

I have the very same problem as the OP after a complete front hub overhaul, so much so that I damaged the brand new paintwork of the 2 drum halves when they got stuck together due to binding - trying to get them apart :(

I will give the makino shoes a try based on recommendation :)

My SIL front drum was fitted with LI shoes, this was spotted by the Classic scooter shop in Eastwood. He sold me a new pair and they were spot on.
