The problem is what are you going to use the scoot for? For example is it for out and out speed or frugal touring? Can you afford to make a lot of noise?
Think as a general guide, Big in, (Carburettor) Big out, (Exhaust) Big petrol bill. Maybe quick acceleration if the gearing is right.
Small in, Small out, Small petrol bill, (not guaranteed). More longevity.

I'm running.JL3 with a 28 dellorto. Goes like a Harry Potters broomstick when you hit the power band but drinks fuel like a Range Rover.......

Got a JL 3 on mine with a 30mm flat slide carb, running an augusto 8000 that has smoothed out the kick in the pants when the pipe used to kick in. I can still here it saying feed me more petrol on full chat but Im normally grinning like a cheshire cat.
PS spits more out than it takes in but it will never go rusty

I'm running an Ancillotti with 28 phbh. Needed fettling with regard new stand and the kickstart lever but pleased with it. To be fair my standard big bore was just as good!

I'm running same as Revvers above in my Spanish S2. Great for general all rounder but won't break any records....didn't need to do any fettling to fit either.
