Avanti 225 or Mugello 225?

Need help with a tuning kit, how do you tune your scooter, which kit should I choose, and all general tuning and modifcations questions are for in here.

I've just built an Avanti. The kit is superbly built and it looks like Ron has thought of everything. It's the best kit I've ever seen bar non. I've got 220 miles in so far and it's a dream to ride. I've got a JL3 on it at the minute but think I'll change to a franspeed super tourer in a couple of weeks, once finances allow.

current set up is
mec crank
LI150 box running 17x46
5 plate clutch with mb springs
30 mm phbh solid mount open mouthed
125 main
55 pilot
AV266 atomiser
x7 needle second clip down
17 deg timing on BGM Wassel stator and mid weight flywheel.

I can't wait to get it run in so I can give it some welly. I'm also looking forward to playing with it, ignition retarded etc. More toys to play with :D

My Avanti is nearly ready, won't know if the following will work until I fire her up though:

VHSH 30 carb with Ramair
Gori 50mm Exhaust
Varitronics
Cyclone on 20x47 (ambitious)
AF Road Cassette clutch

Carb is fitted with 60 pilot, 125 main, DP266 atomiser, K98 needle 3rd clip. (Starting point to work from)

What gearbox ? I ran with a gp 200 box and a 46/20, no problems till I put the Franspeed Race on then had to drop to a 19 on the front.

Cyclone 5 speed, what do you think, will I get away with it, assuming the Gori behaves more like a clubman than an expansion pipe?

What's your final drive and where you riding it ? I had a Ron Moss clubman and it pulled fine with a 4:6 final drive. That was over the N York moors, up hills and down dales. When I put the Franspeed Race on to go over the Pennines on I spent more time in 3rd than 4th !! The Franspeed Tourer (not SuperTourer) is a good all round pipe that pulled the 4:6 easily enough.

Give it a try, I have just changed from a JL3 to an Avanti Super Tourer and the increase in torque from mid range up to 6.5k rpm is amazing. I'm on 4.7:1 gearing, Li125S and 47/20 (I think)

I think it's 4.57 final drive, worth a try?

I'm hoping this engine will be my motorway mile muncher. :-)

Ron suggested 4.3 would be ok with the right exhaust so you should be good, I was thinking mine could probably pull a taller gear too but for the moment I'm enjoying holding a decent speed into a head wind and up hill without having to change down. The 5 speed would compensate for the though ;)
