Dunlop Scootsmart Tyres

Anyone using them , are they any good ??

Pretty good in the dry but didn't inspire confidence in the wet so went for Michelin City Grips for over the winter. I think the Dunlop's would make a good tyre for a sunny afternoon thrash though.

Interesting. I'm currently running Schwable Raceman tyres, which are good in both wet and dry. I was thinking of moving to Scootsmart but I would like to know that they are ok in the wet.

The more I rode the Scootsmart in the wet the more I went off them I'm afraid, just felt too much like they were going to let go. The City Grips are better but not quite as good as Schwalbe Weathermans when you could trust the construction. Tyres are very much a personal thing though, what I like and have confidence in someone else might not.

I am about to buy 3 new tyres, and it is a difficult choice, and hard to find out about any of them.
I want whitewall but with very good wet grip.

thinking of using a 'winter tyre' but all year round.
I wont be going fast, but have bad memories in 68 falling off in bad weather...

Are the most expensive the best?

Thanks for the replies lads, I currently have Conti Navigators on my GP which are excellent in the wet but alas they are no longer available so was thinking about Scootsmarts for a Series 2 I'm building , looks like its back to the drawing board again

Well I replaced the Conti Twist Sport on he read of my Avanti powered Jet with a ScootSmart for the trip to Davos last year and it was brilliant (still is). Even descending the mountain passes in heavy rain on the way back there wasn't a hint of slippage. In my view it's as good as the Conti Twist Sport which in turn was equal to the Sportsman I had on there before that. The ScootSmart has the heavy 3 ply sidewall (high lad rating) necessary to give some measure of support in the event of a deflation. As said above, tyres are a personal choice and you need to take account of the riding.

conti 365 for me, brill in monsoon conditions, well tested on the front, not too sure how long they may last on the back yet.
speed rated to 83 mph. does look rather chunky but sure does work.

Asked a well known scoot shop about tyres for this years euro and was told to put conti 365s on , told they where long lasting and good in all weathers .Let you know how i get on with them .

If you definitely want a whitewall then I recommend Sava MC 20 road. I have been using the blackwall version for 2 years now and love 'em,

I used scootsmarts front and rear on AF tubeless rims from IOW onwards to the end of year and have also been running in a new engine on them for the last 3 weeks in poor weather and they have been very good. They seem to wear ok and do give confidence.

I had a rear puncture on way to the IOW last year and the scootsmart held its shape ok, I threw the spare on and it had been there until a few weeks ago when I plugged the punctured scootsmart and it sealed ok but last weekend I found out that plugs really are temporary (100miles or so) as it let go. The tyre instantly deflated at about 45mph but still allowed me to come to a reasonably steady stop.I'm going to order more scootsmarts soon for my other scoot.

I'm a big fan of the SIP performer tyres: http://www.sip-scootershop.com/en/produ ... +_79590000 used them for the last 6 years on my commuter scooters, great in the wet, high speed/load rating and cheap as chips! No white wall version though unfortunately.

That is a very good advert for the Dunlop ScootSmart, Dunlop and Continental are serious tyre manufacturers with properly funded research and development budgets as well as proper quality control.
