Tyre size

Postby Revvers » Tue Feb 24, 2015 6:54 am

I've bought a 3:0 x 10 tyre by mistake. Can I use it as a spare or do I need to change it for a 3:5 ? Thanks

You could do, like a spacesaver.
would be better to have the correct size though.

I don't see why you can't as an emergency spare. I've got one as a 'space saver' spare but not had to use it yet, I discovered that I could use this in my hinged inline wheel carrier and not have to put a recess in the tooldbox door :D

It will alter your gearing is all . Quicker acceleration but slower top speed .

Sorry for being a bit thick but how would the difference between '3' and ' 3:5', affect the gearing? I thought the 10 was the diameter measurement and the 3:50 was the width? Just for my brain to absorb!

Only if the overall dia changes, nowt to do with the width. Or am I missing something technical here ?
Could have mentioned the rolling circumference but don't know what that means :geek:
